Mr. Muhammad Ameen Keryo was Technical Person of the Pakistan’s first pilot project of Constructed Wetland, initiated by Sindhica Reforms Society in year 2009-10, he is the pioneer of Sindhica Reforms Society as well and holding the position of Chairperson and CEO. Mr. Keryo is also leading the network of 14 Environmental NGOs working for Conservation and Management of Natural Resources "Pai Forest Action Network" and member of different consortiums and water forms. Keryo is also the member of expert group for international project water and Wastewater Companies for climate change mitigation (WaCCliM) jointly implemented by International Water Association (IWA) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) for Mexico, Peru and Thailand and also the member of Global Steering committee for Initiative for Equality (IfE).
Mr. Keryo has dual qualification of Masters in Business Management and Masters in Social sociencescienceology. In addition, he also participated in many national and international trainings and seminars specially the International Engineer's Training on Decentralized wastewater Treatment System organized Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association (BORDA), Germany, Central Human Resources Development Unit of Department of Water Supply and Sewerage (CHRDU/DWSS), Government of Nepal and UN-HABITAT's Water for Asian Cities Programme, South Asia and Consortium for DEWATS Dissemination (CDD) Society.
Keryo is a team friendly person by the nature and always promotes eco initiatives, greening, eco-tourism and environmental education. Initially idea of Constructed Wetland development was taken by Mr. Keryo for enhancement of sanitation system in his native village. Dr. Roshan visited Pakistan on 12 May 2009 to conduct orientation session on Constructed Wetland. Dr. Roshan discussed in detail with Mr. Keryo and given technical inputs and advised him to conduct wastewater tests.
Dr. Roshan sent his team to Pakistan for SRS Technical support and Dr. Shirish Singh and Mr. Narendra Man Dangol developedthe capacity of SRS team. During the starting phase of this pilot project, local feudal lord occupied the project land and threatened SRS team seriously and asked them to withdraw this concept of wetland. Analyzing the risks and threats, Mr. Khair Muhammad Keryo, the father of Mr. Ameen Keryo granted him the own land of the value PKR: 3.2 million of that time free of cost, and encouraged him to start the wetland experience without any hurdle.
Mr. Keryo started this experience with the support of his father and friends. SRS team did its tireless efforts and put on operation the Pakistan's first Constructed Wetland system in April 2010. Meanwhile, Dr. Roshan, contribution was remarkable. Now Mr. Keryo is working as technical person in Pakistan and providing support to different humanitarian partners and Government agencies for the development of Constructed Wetland systems. MAKES Company is founded by Mr. Keryo to promote the approach professionally in Pakistan.
